Southwestern Style Garden

Maximizing usable space was a priority of the Client in this one-half acre site. Working with the Building Architect from the initial concept stages, this project involved the complete remodel of an existing 35 year old house and garden. The desire to construct a Southwestern style home in a Northern California Region allowed the ability to develop a design focusing on the transition from indoor to outdoor spaces. This is gracefully accomplished by the use of architectural elements and forms, such as walls, paving, colors and textures. The project is landscaped with native and drought tolerant plantings and irrigated via drip irrigation. The project features a raised deck off a home office, a raised vegetable garden built from recycled concrete paving, a renovated swimming pool, a combination garden/trash/firewood storage shed and a California native plant garden.

This residence was featured in the 1997 Symphony in Flowers annual Atherton Garden Tour.

Constructed in 1995 for $250,000.
